Pavie 2023 En Primeur is trying very hard to be the worst priced of this campaign. For example, 2019 is 24% cheaper, an impressively bad level, however still not topping Palmer's equivalent En Primeur premium of 32%. Pavie's 2023 wine does not have a consistently high rating, varying from 95-97 to 98-100. This compares unfavourably to their 2018, a much superior vintage offered nearly 20% lower and certain to be better rated wine. Looking further along, 2010 is still rated a 100 pointer by several well known critics after recent tastings. It is only 5% more expensive than 2023, a premium worth paying. Some may argue that looking at past vintages is unfair. Pavie was "upgraded" to Grand Cru Classe A in 2012. But that doesn't mean their wine-making suddenly improved. Yet another En Primeur offering to avoid completely.
